In this documentary, director Peter Triest takes you behind the scenes of the recording process for ‘Anaesthesia’, the latest album by Flying Horseman. It’s an intimate look at rehearsals and studio takes, interwoven with personal interviews with frontman Bert Dockx, keyboard and vocal duo Loesje & Martha Maieu, and the new rhythm section Louis Evrard (drums) and Maximilian Dobbertin (bass).

The film flows between atmospheric behind-the-scenes moments and thoughtful conversations about inspiration and musical direction. You witness the album gradually taking shape into a raw, dark piece of work, charged with urgency and political disquiet.

The documentary also features live footage from Trix Antwerp, capturing the band in full focus as they translate the record’s energy from studio to stage. In this setting, ‘Anaesthesia’ reaches its full force: melancholic tones and hypnotic grooves deepening the album’s social undercurrents.

Adding an extra layer of depth is Triest’s background as a filmmaker. His earlier documentary A Parked Life was nominated for a 2023 Ensor Award for Best Documentary, already showcasing his gift for visual poetry and subtle observation. Aualities that shine through once again in this captivating making-of.
