Bianca Steck is a Barcelona born young musician, singer, songwriter and architect of British and German family background. She is currently based in Brussels. Music has always been an essential part of her life since very early childhood and at the age of four she started taking up piano lessons at a small music school in the neighbourhood where she grew up, completing later on her piano and clarinet studies at the Conservatory of Liceu in Barcelona.
Bianca Steck’s formal musical upbringing was mainly classical but at the age of fifteen she began writing her own tunes while exploring different harmonies and sounds which suited her inner attitude towards music with an intimate tone merging naturally into her voice. Lyrics are meaningful and play an important role in her work since they tell stories and broadly speaking relate her songs to a folk and pop music tradition. Bianca Steck has played in several venues around Europe and has recently been touring with Hania Rani across London, Berlin, Leipzig, Brussels, Antwerp and Paris.
‘I Dream of An Island’ was written during a hopeless moment regarding the world’s disastrous current situation. Daydreaming and desire are ways of escaping from this space and traveling to another one, an island where peace and calmness reign; whether this world stays in our imagination or we find the energy to make it happen is really up to each and everyone of us.
Her debut album is on the way for early 2025 and will be released on Unday Records, and produced together with the Catalan pianist and composer Nil Ciuró.
