'Het Langste Jaar' is the first single from Het Zesde Metaal’s eponymous sixth album. Singer Wannes Cappelle wrote the song in remembrance of the anniversary of a family member's passing. After musician and producer Tom Pintens passed away this summer due to his incurable illness, this song unintentionally became the most fitting song for the remaining band members to play at his funeral. An automatic piano reproduced the exact piano part that Pintens, as a producer, had previously recorded in the studio.
